Directed by Paulo Morelli, “City of Men” has no actual connection to its 2002 predecessor “City of God”, although lead actors Douglas Silva and Darlan Cunha both had roles in it. Set in Rio de Janeiro, the movie is about two best friends, Ace and Wallace living in the slum among crazy gangs fighting for territory.
The new film doesn’t try to compete with “City of God”, but even so predictable as it is, the actors bring a lot of vitality to the screen. The boys often run for their lives, test their loyalty and keep you wanting to see more..
After the movie ended, I felt like telling my friends to go watch it too, because I really enjoyed it.
